BT Community Champions

Welcome

At BT, we believe that volunteering creates opportunities to support our people to do the things they are passionate about in their local communities.

BT Community Champions recognises and rewards BT employees who do voluntary work in their local community.  As part of BT's volunteering programme any permanent BT employee from around the world, who has been volunteering for more than twelve months, can apply for an award. This can be employees who volunteer in BT time or in their own time.  If successful, your group will receive a cash grant of up to £500 (or equivalent in euros or dollars).

BT's volunteering programme provides you with an opportunity to use your energy and skills to make a difference in your local community.  We know that many BT people already have active roles in schools, charities etc but do not realise that by registering themselves, they are recognised as making a difference, and get support from BT with up to 3 days each year that can be used to help the organisation.  If you already make a difference in your local community or would like to find out how to get involved please register your time with the volunteering programme.

BT Community Champions aims to:

  • Recognise and reward BT employees' outstanding voluntary commitments
  • Encourage BT employees to take their professional skills into the community, and bring experience gained whilst volunteering back to BT
  • Let people know, internally and externally, that BT is a champion in the community and a socially responsible employer

Why apply?
Who better to tell you what winning an award means than past BT Community Champions:

"It shows that BT not only talks the talk, but walks the walk in supporting its people and their work in the local community."

"My job is very demanding and at times relentless; this scheme is a reminder that as a company we do have a positive part to play in supporting the local community and it makes me feels proud to be associated with it."

"As a relatively small group we always found it difficult to interest the local media in reporting on our activities.  However we received some great local coverage on the back of our BT Community Champions Award - a fantastic side benefit for us."

"I feel like BT actually cares about me personally and what I do in the community."
